Meet Dr. Jack Chan

To My Dearest Patients,
I have some important and exciting news to share with you and your family. During the past 2 years, I have been struggling with nerve pain in my neck, arm and hands. As many of you may already know, I have undergone cervical neck surgery in 2022 to attempt to correct my condition. The surgery was a success to a point, but due to the chronic condition, it also has affected my left arm with a frozen shoulder, cubital tunnel syndrome, and bilateral carpel tunnel syndrome. It has been increasingly difficult to practice to my full ability and therefore, I reluctantly will end my career in direct patient care.

It has been a great 23 years and we have built the office literally from the ground up. I have met many amazing people and families throughout the years. I still remember the ones that were with us from the beginning and little ones that have grown up to be young adults. I have always practiced by the motto “primum non nocere” – first, to do no harm, and to treat others the way I would like to be treated. For these reasons, I have searched for over a year to find a doctor that shares the same philosophy and high standard of care as I do. I am happy to announce that I have found my successor, Dr. Scott Welling. I would like to share more about his background and highly acclaimed career.

Dr. Welling is a native of Columbus, Ohio and graduated from the prestigious Ohio State University College of Dentistry. Upon graduation, he and his family moved to Washington state and he owned a successful practice at Nordic Family Dental in Poulsbo, WA. Dr. Welling comes from a family of healthcare professionals and takes pride in treating patients with honesty and kindness. He has developed a reputation for quality dentistry, with extensive additional training in general dentistry techniques, cosmetic veneers, Invisalign orthodontics, dental implants, extractions, and bone grafting. As a member of the CDA (California Dental Association), ADA (American Dental Association), and AAID (American Academy of Implant Dentistry), Dr. Welling holds himself to the highest standards expected for members of these associations. Late last year, Dr. Welling, his wife Harriet, and three children decided to move to San Diego for its great weather and healthy living. He and his family love to spend time exploring the outdoors and can’t wait to see all the wonderful things this area has to offer. He will most likely ask you for recommendations, so be ready!

It has been a great privilege to earn your trust and loyalty over these years and I hope you will feel the same trust as I do with Dr. Welling and help welcome him to the community. I would like to assure you that we plan to work together in reviewing pending treatment and care in process for all patients. I am confident that you will enjoy developing a relationship of trust with Dr. Welling moving forward.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call the office.
Yours Truly,
Jack W Chan, DDS
